挪威是个拥有大量公路隧道的国家，但是由于隧道建设时缺少应急规划和救灾避难设施，隧道内的火灾往往是致命的。 斯坦好不容易在圣诞节前一天请了假，打算与女儿和女伴一起渡个假，但伊莉斯却因为满心都是去世的母亲，跟斯坦大吵一架，坐上了去奥斯陆的长途大巴。可就在伊莉斯坐的大巴驶入隧道后不久，大巴前面行驶的油罐车出事故导致隧道里的交通都堵塞住了，恶劣的天气让所有救援都不能及时赶到。而后油罐车还短路爆炸了，滚烫的浓烟瞬间填满了隧道。伊莉斯带着大家自救，到隧道里的检修小屋里避难。斯坦开车冲进了浓烟去寻找自己的女儿。隧道里遍布大量窒息的死者，伊莉斯他们避难的小屋里也逐渐被烟雾填满，终于，斯坦出现并救了伊莉斯和几位幸存者。返程路上，救援中心通知斯坦有两位小女孩就困在他们附近，斯坦让女儿和幸存者先走，自己独自去寻找两个姑娘。小姑娘找到了，但把所有呼吸装备都给了别人的斯坦却撑...。Alex, 43 ans, est dépanneur automobile dans le garage que dirige d'une main de fer sa mère.
