孝夫（寺尾聪饰）和美智子（樋口可南子饰）结婚多年，两人在东京定居。虽然孝夫总是自称为小说家，但早已经过气了的他现在连一部作品都卖不出去，全家上下的重担都落到了身为精英医师的妻子肩上。一场意外的发生让美智子患上了恐慌症，为了缓解妻子的病情，孝夫决定举家搬迁到位于故乡信州的一座小小村落里。 在村里，夫妻两人结识了96岁高龄的幸田婆婆。幸田婆婆脑袋里总是有很多天马行空的想法，她将这些故事讲述给患有喉疾的女孩小百合（小西真奈美饰）听，小百合则讲这些话语整理成文章，刊登在村中的小报《阿弥陀堂讯息》上。。Will & Grace are best friends.
